Road in had ample, well packed snow. Trail was icy for the relo portion at the start with firm, packed snow from there to the intersection with the Garfield Ridge Trail. Above, the packed route deviated from the true trail location but got to the top nicely. Tons of snow with great views above the treetops. Some harder crust near the top but a few opportunities for deep post hole exploration as well. Crust was softening during the descent and will soon require snowshoes. Couple of blowdowns, not bad. Crossings OK.

We wore traction of varying sorts for the whole trip but carried our snowshoes. Microspike ST's were perfect, at least until one of the party caught his on a snag and I came to an abrupt stop.

Beautiful, fun hike with unlimited sunshine and views from one of the White's best summits. We were able to spend a nice while on the summit. Great to hike with Nancy again and to hike with Pam for the first time. And a treat to have HIKER.ED along to catch up after a couple of years.
