Early start. Rainy and foggy. Trail on Garfield trail muddy at start, creek crossings no problem. Socked in solid all day. Skipped Galehead Mt..South Twin same, very buggy though,25 ft. visibility. North Twin opened up to views at about 4:30 pm. Black fly explosion, almost like a horror story. Great views though with lots of low laying clouds. Did I mention black fly's?

Please note: The main reason for this post is that I ran into two hikers at the river crossing where the Old Fire Warden trail and N Twin trail sort of converge. It was late, nearly 8 pm and they were confused on which way to go. They had come down the Old Fire Warden trail thinking that they would end up at the bottom of of Zealand Road And 302. They had a map but since the Fire Warden Trail is no longer an official trail it was not on the map. They had read about it on this web site. Now, I know that they were ill prepared and how they found the old trail I do not know, but perhaps people should note in these posts that it is not an officially maintained trail. Also anyone who is cutting trees and brush to maintain this trail I believe is violating the law. Fortunately we were able to drive them back to the Mt. Hale parking lot.
