Conditions: On the day of the hike, the trail was in very good shape. There were a couple of blowdowns, but none presented any major problem. None of the brook crossings were difficult.

Special Equipment Needed: Snowshoes were used for the entire hike. However, one could bare boot the road walk to the trailhead, and could probably bare boot the lower portion of the trail. But eventually, you are going to want to switch to snowshoes!!

Comments: It was great to hike with Zman on this “Winter 48” conquest! And, we both thank Will and Martine for breaking trail. We didn’t catch up with them until a few tenths of a mile from the summit, but were then able to help them break trail from that point forward.

This is a 12+ mile trek in winter due to the road walk to the trailhead. And so the trek is somewhat lengthy. However, it’s not difficult since the trail is never overly steep (except for the last 0.2 mile scramble to the summit).

There were no views from the top today, but the link below contains 2 photos taken on this trek.
