Date of Hike: May 10
Trail Conditions: All stream crossings were passable, and though the trail was wet with running water in places, generally in good shape. Around 3000 ft we encountered the remains of the monorail, and put on our stabilicers when we got tired of slipping around. Still fairly deep snow on the trail toward the top. Summit was clear and ice free.
Special Equipment Required: Stabilicers were useful, but not required, nor was any other special traction. Waterproof boots. Poles helped with the stream crossings.
Absolutely beautiful day, temperatures warm, just a cool breeze on the summit. Toward the afternoon there were some cooling with more clouds overhead, but nothing like the overcast day which had been forecasted.
Met two people on the summit who had come over the Garfield Ridge Trail from Lafayette who said that that trail still had a lot of snow and it was very slow going.
