Date of Hike: Tue. 01-19-10
Trails: Zealand Rd., Hale Brook Tr.
Winter lot on Rt. 302 plowed. Zealand Road not plowed. About 3" of new snow this morning on the road walk. We bare-booted to the trailhead. Hail Brook wasn't broken out from Sunday nights snow. There was about 4" of fresh powder. We used snowshoes to the top and back to the trailhead. It snowed lightly all day and our tracks were almost covered on the return, so by morning our track should be hidden again.
We cleared 4 blowdowns after the switch backs. Lots of snow laden lean overs.
Bill Marcotte and I had the trail to ourselves today.
