Date of Hike: 11/1-11/2
Trail Conditions: The trail up Mt. Hale and to Zealand Hut was in good condition with only a few ice patches. Twinway from Zealand to Mt. Guyot was wet, and then icy further up. Bondclif trail and the trail to West Bond was in good condition with minimal ice. Franconia Brook trail had standing water in many places. Lincoln Brook trail was very wet and muddy, the stream crossings could be done by rock hopping during the day, but when temps dropped rock hopping became difficult to impossible due to ice. Route up owl's head icy during the slide than clear. Twinway very icy.
Special Equipment Required: None additional traction may be helpful for icy areas but all can be over come with a little creativity. Poles essential for Lincoln Brook crossings if you want to stay dry.
