Trail Conditions: Spring hiking conditions prevail. Only patches of ice along 19 Mile Brook Trail to Carter Dome Trail until almost up to the ridge. There is a washed out section of bridge at one of the 19 mile brook crossings which can be negotiated across one of the remaining boards. Put on the microspikes on packed snow to the summit of Mt Hight. We experienced high winds at the summit. From there to Carter Dome the trail was quickly disintegrating monorail. We wore snowshoes here which arguably helped the situation. Snow/ice became spotty on the descent into Carter Notch where we returned to bare boots. After passing the hut, microspikes are helpful for a while until the snow/ice cover clears.

Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - useful, Microspikes - highly recommended
