Mt. Israel via Wentworth Trail
Date of Hike: Wednesday, April 30, 2008
Trail Conditions: Dry ground, mud, snow, ice
Special Equipment Required: None
Comments:
From the base to the end of the water crossings, the trail is a bit wet, but should dry up soon.
From water crossings to ledges, trail is pretty dry.
From ledges (ie the top flats), to summit, there are stretches of consolidated snow (about a foot deep, no postholing), ice from the recent rain (no traction needed, should melt out pretty soon), and some pooled water (if it drops an inch or so, the stepping stones will be usable again.
Water crossings are running well, but still no problem to cross.
I was able to clean up about half of the blowdowns, but a few remain (nothing tricky).
