Trails: Webster/Jackson Trail

Conditions: Ice, Ice, and more Ice. Continuous flow ice all the way to the trail split jct. From the jct. to the summit, more ice, crusty and powdery snow. The crossings are mostly frozen over. Traction was the ticket. Hiker Ed wore his Hillsounds all day, even up the summit cone. I switched to crampons just for the summit cone and took them back off after coming down from the summit, then switched back to my Hillsounds . Deeper snow on the steep approach made for fairly good footing. The Hillsounds worked so well on all the ice, that the trail was actually easier to walk on, then had it been loose snow. We only saw 5 others out today on our branch of the trail, even though there were quite a few vehicles in the lot. Nice meeting up and talking with Peter Crane today. Great day, mild temps and not much wind on the summit.
