Webster-Jackson Trail had a light snow cover and icy stretches from the trailhead on. Above the Webster Branch intersection, ice became more frequent, with some long sections of hard ice. Steeper ledges near summit were ice covered. Below the icy summit cone, the Webster-Jackson Trail to Mizpah had a few inches of consolidated snow and easy travel. Mizpah Cut-off and lower Crawford Path were in good shape with some ice. We took care of a couple of blowdowns and left a couple, not bad. Crossings not an issue.
We wore Microspike ST's almost all day, ideal.
Nice day in the mountains with limited views but lovely woods and great company. We joined Mark (Silverfox) for the hike from Jackson's summit (a pleasure!) and enjoyed chatting with Dave about all of our common interests on the way out.
