The Jefferson Notch Road is now open and in good condition. The Caps Ridge trail has been worked on and is clear to the top.
The bugs especially the black flies were the worst I have encountered this year. They were present all the way to the top, although they were not too bad at the very top. It seemed like the perfect day to try out the new Repel Eucalyptus bug spray I had purchased. It worked quite well for a few hours but needed to be reapplied.
It was a beautiful day with a hot sun above the tree line. Very mild temps at the top, no jacket was required. I don't know how accurate it is, but the little thermometer on my back pack read 70 degrees at the top, it may have been influenced a bit by the sun.
