Mt Lafayette via Greenleaf Tr. 2016-03-12
It is now Spring.
Note: Greenleaf Tr above Eagle Pass is a frozen waterfall and use of full crampons is highly recommended.
Although the summit cone of Liberty may be mostly ice-free, the various approaches through the woods are probably not ice-free.
Greenleaf Tr notes
From TH: bare trail with intermittent ice, ice increases approaching Eagle Pass. Woods mostly snow-free. - Bare boots or spikes.
Eagle Pass: snow-free for the pass itself, considerable snow socked in the shaded rock garden - no traction needed
Above Eagle Pass: This section is a frozen waterfall - Full crampons highly recommended.
Above Greenleaf Hut through scrub: Ice and slush in trail - any form of traction suitable.
Lafayette summit cone: Some ice. Wear traction if you feel like it, but not necessary.
