No VFTT today - let it snow, let it snow, let it NOT! I was invited to hike with the Brigham gang (Allie-9, Tom-14, Peter-16, Connie & Dave) who are all working on the 48 (in various levels of completion). Trail was mostly packed with about 4 " new snow on it. Barebooted all the way up Liberty Springs trail. At the tentsite, Peter and I went ahead to Liberty (and onto Flume) while the others had lunch and then continued onto Liberty. Barebooted to Liberty and then in order to honor the Geneva Posthole Convention, we put on snowshoes for the descent into the col and onto Flume. The snow was a little deeper on the way to Flume and postholing was definitely a concern. Wore snowshoes for the entire return trip to gain stability and to maximize trail surfing on the way down. Off the trail at 2PM, just in time for the 3:45 commute down Rt. 93 to Manchester! Winter 38 and 39 for me.
