Mt Liberty & Mt Flume via Bike Path, Liberty Springs Trail, Franconia Ridge Trail

Date of Hike: Sunday, April 19, 2009

Trail Conditions: Dry ground below 2500', firm snow after that

Special Equipment Required: traction above 2500'

Comments:
Bike Path from White House Trailhead to Liberty Springs Trail was mostly bare. Liberty Springs Trail was mostly bare ground with some snow in spots at lower elevations. At 2500' the snow increased where some traction was required. Microspikes worked fine for me. The snow between Liberty and Flume was firm on the trail but still very deep if you step off trail and posthole. Snow was softening in the afternoon but microspikes held there own. Both summits were bare rock.

Real blue sky day today with little to no wind on the summits. Views were great, temps warm... what else could you ask for.
