Date of Hike: 12/30/2009
Trail Conditions: Several fresh inches and snow drifts made snowshoes a must for the day as trail still needs to be packed after the Liberty Springs/Flume Slide Tr split (thanks to the father and son who broke the trail to the summit for us). Several blowdowns required some flexibility, but were entirely manageable. Clear skies yielded great views in all directions, though it was a cold day coupled with moderate winds—as a result, the ascent was slow, and we decided to skip out on Mt. Flume until another day.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes a must until trail gets packed-out again. Carrying light traction would be a good idea, but crampons are unnecessary.
