Trail Conditions: As Giggy did the day before, we went up and down via Daniel Webster Scout Trail. In all my years of hiking, I'd never been on that trail before and wasn't disappointed.

Special Equipment: Bug dope. Plenty of water. Sunscreen would have been a good idea, but we forgot ours.

Comments: Though I enjoyed the trail, the heat and humidity were something else. Very few refreshing breezes and one section of old snow I would have liked to put in my pack. Brian and I saw only eight other people on the trails near the summmit. Strange to have the mountain practically to ourselves. Saw some wild sarsparilla in blossom and both pink and white ladies slippers, dwarf cornell (bunchberry) blooming and clintonia brightening up the woods. The white throated sparrow we heard encouraged us with the song, "Climb Mt. Madison, Madison, Madison."
