Came in from south meadows, a decent trail that can be bare booted but is easier with snow shoes. The trail up marcy from the dam was pretty packed down and the river crossing a mile up was a bit sketch as the ice underfoot cracked a lot as i walked across. The whole trail can be done without snowshoes but snowshoes are definately faster, especially if breaking trail. Tons of drifts on the summit, snow shoes definately came in handy and the rocks aren't iced over yet so walking on them saved some energy. 40 degrees at the bottom and very cold and windy at the top, a very fun day.
Moderator note: Wearing snowshoes is required when there is 8" of snow on the trails.
