Started out form South Meadows as the Loj was packed and parking was limited, but what a great trip. Weather was about as perfect as could be asked for. Clear blue skies the whole day. A bit windy at the summit, but that is part of the charm. 40's in the morning, warmed to around 60ish, closer to 35-40 at the summit. There are just the first few beginnings of ice patches on the Summit ridge, but not enough to be concerned with. The Trail from Marcy Dam to the summit was fairly muddy, but plenty of rocks and bridges so as to not be a problem. Great day and great hike.

Recommended equipment: Gore tex boots for sure; gaiters didn't hurt to have on either. Warm jacket for the summit and of course, a camera! With the shorter days I ended up finishing in the dark and was also glad to have a head lamp along.
