Conditions: Sort of hard to describe the trail conditions. Maybe “crunchy” kind of sums it up?! Wore snowshoes for the entire trek, and sometimes was walking on top of rain-frozen snow, and other times was breaking through crust and sinking a few inches.
There’s only one blowdown on the trail, and it’s easy enough to duck under. This trail has no brook crossing issues.
Special Equipment: Snowshoes are perhaps the best footwear choice. Barebooting would probably create significant postholing, and also make the trek more difficult (primarily because of traction issues).
Comments: Only had about a 3 hour window available to me to hike today, and so chose this short, nearby hike. With an overcast sky & intermittent snow squalls I really didn’t expect any views. And sure enough, I didn’t get any! (Good views are available from this summit when the weather cooperates!!)
