Trails used: Ravine Road, Asquam Ridge Tr., (upper)Beaver Brook Tr., (upper)Benton Tr., Carriage Rd., South Peak Spur, Snapper Tr., Gorge Brook Tr., Ravine Road
Special Equipment: Snowshoes, Microspikes (or Stabilicers)for alpine zone, crampons not needed anywhere on the mountain today.
Conditions: Sunny and clear 13 degrees at the summit with steady and stiff NW wind, not enough to knock you around though, stronger (but not too frequent) stronger gusts required slight bracing. About an inch of new snow at the trailhead, up to about 4-6" at the top of Asquam. LOTS of animal tracks starting at the parking area all the way to the second Baker River crossing on the Asquam Ridge Tr. Deeper drifts (not too deep) on upper parts of Beaver Brook and Benton. Above treeline a mix of hard blown snow, ice, and rock, Microspikes were just the ticket. Carriage Rd. packed above Glencliff, below was mostly hard crust with a little snow. Spur to South Peak was alternating 4" unbroken snow or crusty ice, one good sized drift. I did the spur in microspikes, could of barebooted. Snapper Trail was broken by one person prior to my passing through a couple new snow. Beautiful day, good views.
