This trail goes from very smooth under foot to fairly smooth most of the way to the top. It is the least bony trail for a 4000 footer that I can remember taking.
There are no stream crossings at all. There is no water along this trail. The trail was very dry. There is a mud bog just above 3200' It is fairly long and deep and the bog bridges are very worn, but it is passable. Other than that the trail was dry from bottom to top. There was one crawl under blowdown. Otherwise the trail was in very good condition.
Moriah was on the list of trails to be done and I was looking for a trail on this Labor Day weekend that wouldn't be too crowded. In our five and one half hours on the trail and a half hour on the top we didn't see a soul all day. I think it is the first time I ever hiked a NH 4000 footer without seeing anyone.
