August 12th
Trail Conditions: Some mud before Mt. Surprise. Very slippy ledges. Persistent mud, deep at times after that. Bog bridges in poor shape and almost submerged in places. Water running down trail for the last half mile.
Equipment: Good boots and gaiters! Poles to probe the mud.
Comments: Decided against chancing the water crossings on Stony Brook and took the safer route. Turned out to be a partly sunny day with nice views to the east from the summit. Lovely views to Gorham and north on the way down. Worth the climb for the abundance of blueberries that slowed us up both up and down as we ate our fill!
Great day out with Silverfox and Finn the dog.
