trails: cohos trail/gadwah notch trail, bushwack

conditions: parked about 11 miles up nash stream road where it forks. the cohos trail follows the left fork. gate was open and 4wd could drive farther in, but i don't know if it is typical for it to be open. intitially the road the trail follows was in good shape becoming more grassy and wet before becoming very wet, muddy and boggy the rest of the way up to gadwah notch. from the notch we followed the ridgeline up to muise through a mix of woods, all very wet today, but never encountered anything too thick. leaving the summit we took a more direct approach down the drainage of nash stream. intitially the woods kept wanting to pull us west, but we corrected and some mixed going opened up into beautiful open woods and we followed the headwaters of nash stream back down to the trail. the only water crossings of note were that of nash stream and its tributaries which were not an issue.

equipment: nothing in particular.

comments: a pretty soggy walk in the woods. sadly skies did not really clear off until we were back to the car and it even rained on us at times on the ascent. a couple views from the various meadows along the cohos trail on the way out. thanks to jeremy and mark for a good hike.
