This past Sunday Tripoli Rd was still open so I decided to take advantage and head up Mt Osceola. It was a bit blustery in Thorton Gap but not too cold. We headed up the Mt Osceola Tr and climbed our way uo the numerous switchbacks to the summit of Mt Osceola. The snow was only about three inches deep, with a shin deep drift near the open ledge, but it was melting fast. So fast I though it might be raining at times. Once at the summit I made a snowman at the north view and wandered around for a bit. I was quite soaked at this point and glad I dod not have to venture above treeline. It was also cloudy and there were no views that day so after about 20 minutes we headed back down the way we came up. About a mile from the parking lot we saw the only other person of the day. It was 11am when I returned to my truck and I was home by 12:30pm. Not a bad morning in my book.
