Conditions: Crawford Path to Pierce is broken out and well packed. There are a few blowdowns, but none are an issue.
Special Equipment: You’ll want to bring along some type of foot traction device. Zman and I wore a combination of snowshoes and crampons for certain segments of this trek.
Comments: Hey, it snowed today! And a lot more (and longer) than we thought it would! Zman and I made it to Mt. Pierce without a problem. However we aborted our trek over to Eisenhower since: a) we could not see Eisenhower due to a snowstorm (with wind) that just didn’t want to stop, and b) there was no apparent trail broken over to Eisenhower (sorry Darl58 & bobandgeri, but the TRAIL you broke is no longer there!)
Since the Eisenhower portion of our trek suffered a weather cancellation, we had extra time on our hands. So, once we reached the Mitzpah Cutoff Junction we decided to take a side trip up to the Mitzpah Hut. It’s always interesting to see the huts in their winter setting.
There were not a lot of photo-ops today, but HERE are some photos taken during our trek.
