Awesome winter wonderland hike with pristine snow and great views of the Presidential Range. About a foot of fresh snow from the trailhead, which was already broken in by another group ahead of us at 9 am. A weird looking blackish blue storm was wreaking havoc with the N. Presidentials when we started but it moved off to the background a bit by the time we got to Pierce so we were able to make it to the top and see clearly in every direction. We literally slid down to the hut (closed) through several feet of powder via the Mispah Cutoff, which was reaaallly cool, and then broke trail back to the Crawford Path after lunch. 9-3. I highly recommend it. Snowshoes and full winter gear are required. 14 degrees at 9 am at Highland Center. 100+ mph winds reported by the observatory but this hike is basically sheltered except for a couple of minutes on top of Pierce.
