Mt.Tecumseh. Hiked on 1 23 2017
Early start. On trail at 7.10 am. No cars in lot #1. Tecumseh trail starts just at the north corner of lot 1. Snow depths are 2 to 3 feet all the way. Started out with snow shoes but lost them quickly as center of trail is well packed and temps at base at 28 degrees. Micro spikes all the way with no problems. If you do any sidestepping off the trail, you will be in over your knees. No blowdowns. Smooth sailing coming down doing the butt slide for about ⅕ of the way down the upper steeper sections. Bring a plastic slider for a quicker descent. If it stays cold, trail will stay nice and firm. No post holing today. 5 miles rt. 4 hours, 15 minutes including break at the top and a tea break coming down. Not many views today as cloud cover was locked in at about 3500 feet. Great day out with Ashley while completing her number 26.
