Mt. Tecumseh via ski trails (to first vista), Tecumseh Trail, and Sosman Trail
Date of Hike: Monday, September 29, 2008
Trail Conditions: Fairly dry, slippery in a few places
Special Equipment Required:
Comments:
Took ski trails to the first vista point, as I'm not a fan of the beginning of the Tecumseh Trail. This bypasses two brook crossings. By the sound of it, the brook was roaring. Ski trails were moist, but not too muddy. Mowed in the past two weeks as well.
Tecumseh Trail from vista to Sosman junction was mostly dry, though the rocks were a bit slick.
Sosman Trail to summit was also mostly dry, though rocks were also a bit slick.
Other than a blowdown section about halfway up the Tecumseh Trail that's been there for awhile (walk under without even needing to bend over), trails were clear.
Used Sandwich Notch Road to get there - the northwest side of the road is in rough shape - some large washout sections, and a culvert is becoming increasingly exposed. No problem for trucks/SUVs, but low riding cars may want to avoid it for now.
