Date of Hike: Thursday, December 24
Trails: Mt Washington via Jewel and back via Ammo
Trail Conditions: For Jewel up to Washington see wolfgang's report. From Washington to LOC hut - no recent tracks, some icy spots, some "snowtraps" between rocks, but overall OK. Ammo trail had no recent tracks and ours were probably blown over quickly so pay attention to find the trail into the woods from LOC hut.
Special Equipment: bare boots almost entire way but snowshoes would be better. Poles were helpful. Put microspkes for a short section between Mt Washington and LOC hut.
Comments: winter magic in the woods, unreal undercast the entire day - seemed like we were on Rainier or something like that. Not too cold and not too windy for Washington but still harsh enough for that special effect. Very special day.
