Trail Conditions: A little ice before the Gem Pool and microspikes worked great. Thick ice near treeline.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes - not need (this may be different after this snow storm); Crampons essential for the upper part of the Ammo Trail. Ice ax/tools would be very helpful.
Comments: We saw a couple trying to climb the upper Ammo Trail in Microspikes. They made it, but it looked dangerous to me. I wouldn't have tried to climb to the Hut without crampons. We didn't have our ice axes but we wished we had them. Our poles were a poor substitute for an ax! We switched back to microspikes at the Hut for the walk to the summit.
