Date of Hike: 2/20/12
Trail Conditions: Hiked via Blueberry Ledges to Rollins to Dicey's Mill. The vast majority of the hike was on packed snow. Some snow had drifted on the trail on Rollins and there were patches of water ice. The ledges had some ice but microspikes were adequate. No problems with downed trees and the crossing on Dicey's Mill was easy.
Special Equipment Required: Microspikes: Very helpful. Snowshoes - not needed. Crampons - brought them but didn't use them.
Comments: Very good conditions made for a great hike (7 hours) with terrific views from the ledges and other viewpoints. We wore microspikes all day as did almost everyone we saw. Area near the Whiteface summit had sections exposed to a strong wind. We were glad we put on a wind layer before climbing the Ledges.
