Followed a woman at least 60 pounds lighter than me who was in microspikes. I chose snowshoes.
Ethan Pond Trail was well packed, but Willey Range Trail was much less travelled up to the ladders. Ladders and above were untracked.
I broke out the ladders and continued to the summit on snowshoes breaking out the trail. My trailmate turned back at the ladders feeling the microspikes wouldn't be enough the rest of the way, others must have made the same decision.
Trail was packed to Willey from the other direction where people had come in from Field and turned around.
Much easier return for me the way I came after breaking trail on the way in. Those ladders are tricky, but they aren't iced over so just breaking the snow out of the steps made up and down not bad.
Weather was cold and low ceiling so no views from the overlook just below the summit.
This was 41/48 for me.
