Trails: off-trail, Gordon Pond Trail, Kinsman Ridge Trail, and Reel Brook Tr.
Special Equipment: waterproof boots & poles
Conditions: Muddy as expected along most trails. Some deep boot-sucking mud puddles. Limited views from Gordon Pond.
Comments: Once again, very diverse weather: thunder on and off all day but never a downpour. I've been up Gordon Pond Trail several times but still have never been able to follow the trail the first 2 miles from route 112. This time was no different. We started fine but soon got lost among the snowmobile junctions and then just took the dreaded powerlines to the second trail crossing. The powerlines cross many bogs and wet snowmobile trails. Lots of black raspberries to graze on while double-checking maps and GPS and shaking out the water from the boots
Overshot the summit of Wolf as expected but turned back to tag the summit on the west bump off-trail (thank goodness there's still a canister there!). Overall, a very good day avoiding the downpours!!!!
