Trail conditions: Some mud on Valley Way but overall in great condition.

Equipment needed: Warm and weatherproof clothing.

Comments: Having watched all the high summit forecasts I was uncertain we would do this hike today. Stopped at Pinkham Notch for advice and the young woman was quite blaze about there being clouds in and out up there every day! So we voted to proceed. Sunny until we neared the hut when the clouds started swirling around. However Adams looked clear so we set off for the top. Ran into cloud and icy rain about halfway up but had intermittent views on the way. Mostly cloudy on the way down. After lunch and hot tea ...so good...we headed up Madison and again ran into the icy rain as we neared the top. Winds were blowing at 20-25 mph and it was cold. However two of our group (othh) were first timers to these peaks so were very happy to bag both. Rained steadily for the second half of our journey down but all felt we had a great day out despite the wind, rain and lack of vfft.
