Date 5/1/08; Since Success Pond Rd is blocked and was not sure about Hogan Rd in Shelburne for the Centennial Trail, I whacked up the NW slope of Cascade and hit the Mahoosuc Trail somewhere near the ledges. Went down into the Cascade/Hayes Col up to Hayes summit, the returned all the way to Trident Col and out via a whack to near Mt. Carberry in Berlin. Hayes to Cascade has a few patches of deep snow but open hardwoods fine. Cascade ledges to Trident Col has more softwood patches with still 2 to 4 deep snow, luckily for me it was still frozen when I came over the patches around 1130. In hardwoods the trail is mostly dry only a few easy stepovergoaround blowdowns or broken tree tops. Had flurries not quite the view hoping for no wildlife other than ruffed grouse and juncos and white throated sparrows. I did go a few 10s past the tentsite spur and the Mahoosuc looked pretty good once it got out of the Col. Lefty
