A loop hike was done on 06-Mar-2012 to Mts. Tom, Field and Avalon using the following trails:
_ Avalon
_ A-Z
_ Mt Tom Spur
_ Willey Range
_ Avalon Spur
All the above trails were in excellent shape. They were well broken out and consisted of a firm, fully consolidated snow pack. All water crossings were snow/ice bridged.
It should also be noted that as of the day of this hike, the Willey Range Trail had NOT been broken out from Mt. Field headed toward Mt. Willey.
Even though the snowpack was fully consolidated, snowshoes were worn for the entire trek to avoid punching through and ruining things for other hikers.
My BLOG has some photos from this hike.
