Long time in the planning but grumpygran set out with 4 granddaughters for an overnight at Lake of the Clouds. We called ourselves "grumpygran's gaiter girls" as we all had our colorful "dirty girl gaiters" on! Gorgeous day on Monday and we got to the hut in time for a late lunch and a rest. Then, seeing the clear blue skies I said "if you can see the Mount, you go up it now". So we did. Perfect day with great views. The girls were amazed at the number of tourists wandering around.
After a somewhat sleepless night in a full hut we woke Tuesday to high clouds, no sign of Monroe but glimpses of Washington. The picture changed and Washington was clouded over for the rest of the day while we went up Monroe and then headed over to Eisenhower. Good breeze kept bugs at bay and while there were clouds drifting in and out of the colls we were in the clear all the way. Seemed a bit longer than I remembered but the girls didn't seem to notice! Back to the hut for lunch (and some card games!) and then a careful descent to the car.
So fortunate with the weather and a wonderful experience for some new peakbaggers who are already planning where grumpygran will take them next year.

PS: Wish I had a way of putting in photos but haven't learned how to do that yet!
