I took this at Yosemite. Simply point and shoot with a minimum of editing. I think it was just a lucky shot.

Very nice example of "aerial perspective" -- the sense of depth we get when contrast declines as subject matter is located farther and farther into the background. This photo also has a generally soft, impressionistic painting like quality to it that appeals. Quite romantic.

Nice photo. It is a subject which often works best on a somewhat overcast day. In bright sun the contrast range would not record photographically. The highlights on the light granite would blow out and the dark trees would become black. A painter would simply tone down the contrast, which you were able to accomplish with the soft lighting.

By point and shoot I assume you also mean the camera you were using. So I suspect you don't have a filter attachment capability. A polarizer could have cut down on some of the haze and given more detail in the distant mountains. But the haze does add to romantic feeling that you have in the photo, so no real harm there. It is very pleasing photo.

How do i post it using that Yellow Mountain icon above?
Go to the photo in your online album. Right click on the image. In the pop up, left click Properties. In the next pop up; swipe over the Location or Address field. Copy that "jpg URL" to the clipboard (Cntl-C). One note. Picassa limited your image size to 512 pixels by adding ?imgmax=512 to the end of the URL. We will need to strip that off manually because the IMG tags require the .jpg at the end of the URL.

In the VFTT post data entry window, press the Yellow Mountain button. Paste in jpg URL of your photo and strip off the ?imgmax=512 by backspacing. Then press OK. Voila below. Once you learn the tags, you can simply type in the IMG and /IMG tags with square brackets and paste in the jpg URL between them. Just remember the URL of the image must have .jpg at the end. You can briefly press the QUOTE button to see the tags in my post.

(edit: I removed the large picasa image as a smaller image is now in the first post. Perhaps the size was the reason it was blocked from display on dentonfabrics' PC).

Got it Mark, thanks a lot.

FYI, I was unable to link it from picasa. I have it linked from another spot. And regarding the pic in your post, I cant see it at all. I only see the box with the red X in it.

There's something about my pc that wont take a link from picasa.

Oh well. Sorry guys, I seem to be having some computer issues. I've linked the photo in from both webshots and ofoto. They seem to stay posted for a short time and then the link disappears along with the image. Hmm.....
If anyone has a thought on how this could happen, please let me know. Virus? Windows Vista issues?

Trust me though, it was an awesome picture!!!!

I am still seeing your photo in the first post of this thread, in which it is linked from kodakgallery. I suspect others can see it also. On your computer do you see see your image in the first post?

In one of your several edits of post #4, I noticed that you had posted the same large image that I had originally included in my post. And I could see that large image in your post on my computer. Apparently you could not see it. Initially I thought it might be an issue with the image size on your computer or with your internet access.

I noticed you also had another smaller version in your picasa gallery. Here is that photo linked into a post. Do you see this one?

Here is the web link if you can't see the image in this post:

I am also using Windows Vista (Home Premium edition).

This is very strange. After leaving this thread open in a tab for a couple of hours, I then hit PF5 to refresh this thread. The images in both post #1 and #7 disappeared. So I briefly used the QUOTE button to view the text and retrieve both the picasa and kodakgallery jpg URLs for each image. I open up each image in new browser tabs, and both displayed OK. I came back to this thread refreshed the screen again, and both images reappeared.

Perhaps the browser thinks the images are in its cache, but that cached copy has somehow become corrupt, and therefore no longer displayable. When I went back to the online galleries and displayed the images again - that refreshed the browser cache with new valid copies of each jpg image. Therefore they could now be displayed again in this thread.

If it is a cache problem I don't know what is causing it. Clearing the browser's cache, or rebooting the PC would also resolve a browser cache problem.

All I get from any of the posts attempting to exhibit the picture here so far is that little square with a ? in it. I was able to view the picture in a new window via the link to your album in the original post, though.

My computer is a Mac, with Safari browser.

If you right-click on the red x and choose properties from the drop-down-menu, then select the adress from the properties box, close that box and paste the adress in your browser and hit go - you will get the photo, using IE in Windows.

I'm confused too. I have trouble believing it's a cache problem that affects all of us, but it's also odd that a server-side problem (eg, deliberate blocking of image requests where the Referer: is VFTT) would affect multiple different image hosts.

Using Firefox on Linux, I see no photos at all, but if I retrieve the URL from the source in the original post, I can view that image in my browser with no trouble. Once that's done the image is in cache and it duly appears when I refresh the first post. If it weren't such a beautiful day I'd check the HTTP headers to see if the image is set to expire from cache after some ridiculously short period of time or some such thing which might confuse most browsers.

I am beginning to think it may be a time out problem. Perhaps if the image cannot be retrieved from the hosting sites (picasa or kodakgallery) within some period of time, then VFTT gives up and it does not display. Or perhaps something else in the VFTT settings is filtering out images from those two websites. Once the images are in our browser's cache then they do display. I believe I have heard that others have had trouble linking in images from kodakgallery,

BTW the second image that dentonfabrics posted can be viewed here:
http://images.kodakgallery.com/photos4416/6/51/78/61/61/9/961617851605_0_ALB.jpg

After viewing it there it should be in the browser's cache and displayable in this thread.

I suspect they just don't like hot linking and have configured their systems to block them. They also could be using dynamic paths to avoid it. Either you'll need to find a different image server or just post the links.
