Got an early 5:15am start from neso in light snow. Some evidence of prior travel beneath a good 6-12+ " of recent snow. North brother was pretty tough, taking 2 hours to climb that 0.8 mile often through waist deep drifts that we just couldnt get on top of. Fort was surprisingly easy as most of the dense softwoods were buried. we almost thought we werent going to hit a single spruce trap once we reachd the col but had to cross a minefield and werent perfect in picking lines there. We earned bonus negative points for hitting the same traps on the way back thinking they should be a bit packed down but again fell in to mid torso to shoulder traps.
We got back to the junction below north brother a little after 2 pm and without any discussion we kept up the trailbreaking to coe. Generally it was around shin to knee for this section with a few deeper drifts just below coe. We hit south brother on the way back and hit a few waist deep drifts as well.
All in all a great 17 hour hike chock full of trailbreakers delight. I suppose we should be thankful with the wind/snow/sleet/freezing rain that fell all day that we werent delayed at the summits soaking up views. Actually in the 4 days up in the area it never really stopped snowing. Very tough hike with tons of trailbreaking. Caught a cold right before the trip but went anyways so was pretty run down at the end of the day but glad we got all 4. Thanks to scott and tom for the company and help!
