Date of Hike: Tue. 02-09-10
Trails: Hancock Notch, Cedar Brook, Hancock Loop
About 1" of fresh powder down low with increasing depths to about 4" of new powder across the ridge. Some drifting as usual on the ridge with trail disappearing in places. Solid base the whole way. Water crossings are bridged over. Minimal blow-downs.
Bare booted to Loop Jct. Used crampons and snowshoes up the North Peak. Either one did fine. Snowshoes across the ridge. Butt slid most of the way down from the South Peak.
Beautiful sunny day today with no wind. Bill M., Vinny C., and I had the trails to ourselves today, although we did see some snowshoe tracks down low, but they didn't go in far before they turned around.
