Trail Conditions: overall trails in good shape. Some blow downs remain though many have been removed. Water crossings easily rock hoppable. Muddy areas on link wider and muddier than ever.
Equipment needed: windjacket, gloves for some.
Comments: We chose the Hancocks over a ridge trail on seeing the clouds hanging low as we drove up 93. A good choice as it was quite cold and windy most of the day which did keep bugs away. Intermittent showers. Surprised by the number and variety of flowers we saw including lady slippers, painted trillium, blooming clintonia and some not yet open pitcher plants. A rare treat was a spruce grouse who paraded in front of us for some time allowing the camera buffs click away. Good to be out stretching (!) my legs with Cymbidium and Silverfox.
