A bit of drizzle in the parking lot on Friday, turning to snow with altitude. Saturday was full winter with a few inches fresh powder and a stiff breeze.
Bare-booted (with some difficulty) up to Kinsman Pond for the night (new shelter is worlds better than the old one), stayed in snowshoes all day Saturday. Broke trail from Kinsman Pond onward. Saw a few blazes at "ground" level, probably missed a few buried ones. The trail is wide and follows the ridge, but I still lost it repeatedly.
Snowshoes mandatory, poles very helpful. Full winter dress, basic navigational skills, and a willingness to bushwhack when necessary.
