Hikes with Hannah

Out and back to the Kinsmans from Mt. Kinsman Trail. Started in microspikes, switched to snowshoes about 1/4 mile below the junction with KRT where the trail got messy, kept those on until about one mile from the trailhead as the snow was significantly softer in the afternoon. Monorail poking out down low, along with some open areas along smaller trickling streams. A few step-overs and walk-arounds on KRT but nothing terrible. Still several feet of snow on the ridge - signs at MKT/KRT junction COMPLETELY buried!
Hannah had a great hike, the day after getting her AMC 4000' certificate - plenty of snowcones, first hike in several months without a cold weather coat, lots to sniff with the melting snow, and even getting stuck in a small spruce trap on South Kinsman
Fantastic day out - more sun that forecasted, warm temps, little wind on the summits and great views. Saw two people between North and South, other than that we had the trails to ourselves.
