Date of Hike: Sun. 13 Nov. 2011

Trails: North Twin Trail, N. Twin Spur, Twin Way, Frost Tr., Garfield Ridge, Gale River Trail

Conditions: N. Twin Tr. was mostly wet with some mud to the steeps, where there was about 1" of snow with icy patches to the summit. We skirted the first two river crossings. The third was fairly easy. Looks like the crossing has changed slightly since Irene. The spur coming off of the N. Peak had some solid icy sections. Hillsounds and Micros were needed here. From the South peak down to the hut, there were very icy sections. Light traction was a must here also. Frost Tr. to Galehead summit was mostly wet with some slushy snow and crunchy ice. Gale River trail was mostly wet with some soft muddy sections, and mostly dry on the bottoms.

Lots of wind today, but the temps were not that cold. Great day out with Bill and Chris.
