I love this picture

aaq.sized.jpg

It shows our own Spencer looking across a lake and taking a picture of 3 mountains. The two larger ones and the lake (and the vantage point for that matter) are referred to elsewhere on this site, but it's the third peak, the smallest one on the left, that's the mystery mountain for today.

Here's a link to a larger version: Big picture

If you haven't read the recent thread that gives the context, then by all means guess all three peaks, the vantage point and the lake and you'll get extra extra credit, otherwise just guess the third peak (but don't give away the other stuff to those who would like to guess). Spencer is of course not eligible. (Sorry.)

That is a great picture upon which to perform analysis. Who, without looking at a map, can identify two islands and two lakes depicted here?

Spencer, though you can't answer, you're all over this one.

Lobster Mountain?
Good one DMS, right on!

Now can anyone guess the other stuff. If you saw the information on this site in a recent posting, please refrain from answering.

Can only be Big Spencer and Little Spencer looking across Spencer Bay, Sugar Island and Deer Island. Now, is the pond in the foreground Mountain View Pond and was the photo taken from Big Moose or Trout Pond Mountain? These are all located in Spencer County and the Planet Spencer T-shirt is available from the Spencer General Store.

There do seem to be a ridiculous number of 'Spencer' geographic features and place names in Maine. What's up with that?

Good one Stan. Yes, yes, yes, yes, Mountain View Pond and yes. Here's a map

Spencer Bay? Spencer County? Yes, that sounds right. :D We did stop in the Spencer General Store but we didn't see the T-shirt. :D

Speaking of Spencer, don't forget Spencer Bale Mountain, truly one of the nicer ME 3k's, fantastic views from the summit! ;)

I'm not sure who anyone is referring to anymore!

I'm Spencer and it's nice to have so many things named in my honor!

and Spencer will indeed see the views from Spencer Bale at some point...

If you ever meet me, ask me about the coxswain I dated in high school. Her name was Spencer.

I kid you not!

I could spend all day coming up with lines for that comment ;)

Good to see that you got up the Spencers! I found it comical when you casually mentioned this past winter that you had not climbed any of them. Heck, I'm trying to think of a rational reason for heading up to Kroto Creek in Alaska (well, one that my wife would embrace, anyway), and here you were, not even climbing your namesake within hours of your home.

I'll bet it was all you had hoped for, and more.
