Trail well packed from prior day or two snowshoers with 3-5" of fresh powder on top all the way to Nancy Cascades. The two major stream crossings looked tricky but the ice capped rocks held me and the dog up. Packed trail ended at the cascades but boot steps continued. I followed them up a steeper route until they ended, put the snowshoes back on, but couldn't find the trail and it was tough going on the little dog, so I turned around. I'd suggest reading a trail guide (I wish I had) and ignoring the existing steps after the cascade.
Bareboots would work without postholing up to cascades but after that snowshoes needed. Snowshoes helpful on the stream crossings.
