Seems like a lot of VFTTers are becoming first-time ADK 46-Rs this year. I finished on Emmons June 10. How many of you good folks climbed #46 this year, or are on schedule to finish in 2004?

To those who just got your first 46, what have you done since, and are you planning on going for the Winter round?

As for me, I've hiked once, to help Hillman1 celebrate his 46th. I'll do a canoe trip or two, and hike a little to get ready for some Winter peaks.

My hiking partner, Kevin, will finish in the Santanonis this weekend. After that hike, I'll have Redfield, Blake, and Marcy. I plan on finishing my 46 on Marcy this winter with Storytime... Marcy will be his W46.

I'm doing Couch on Tues., for #45, and Allen on Weds. for #46. If the Gods look favorably on me...
Future plans? Well let's see, there's the Ribbon Slide up the North Face of Gothics next month. The trail from New Russia to RPR and Giant. A second attempt at the Colden Dike. Marcy from Grey peak. Trying to get some more peaks under my son's belt for his 46. He's got 4 and he's only 12, so we'll take our time. He may have to rent a sherpa to drag the old man around with him, though.

Soon enough.....

We (Me, ADKatie, son Nick, 13 and daughter Ashley, 11) look forward to going up Allen with masshysteria on Wed to 1) celebrate with him, and 2) grab number #44 for us.

We plan to wade through the tourists on top of Whiteface (after a side trip to Eshter) on 9/5 (Labor Day Sunday) to finish as a family. For some strange reason, I look forward to the carnival atmosphere atop Whiteface (that day anyway). To me it's a tourist mountain, and I plan to finish like one (complete with the chili dog) :).

We've just started rehersing with our 11 y/o daughter (who is a little actress anyway) our Whiteface routine. While we wait in line to summit, she'll throw a huge temper tantrum about us not telling her "there was a road to the top" :p :p or something to that effect. Then, Once everyone is staring at us, I'll look at my wife and say "Gee honey, she never complained on any of the other 45 she climbed" :) (Isn't that corny? damn right. I love making an ass of myself, just read some of my other posts :))

Future plans. I'm going to retire. No more hiking for me. I'm just gonna sit around and get fat(ter) eating cheese doodles & watching TV.

DUH, MORE MOUNTAINS, what else ;)

Alg, I'll be working on my winter 46 this season, and am currently working on the ADK 100 highest. I plan on getting down to the Catskills sometime also. My hiking obsession has kept me out of my kayak for awhile, so I'd like to get some paddling in. Hopefully in my boat that is, I get enough of it at work already...

final 46

My husband and I plan to finish on Whiteface on 8/28. My list after I finish looks a lot like AlpineSummit"s list. I also plan to finish the 115 in September on Carragain. I will probably work on the NE100, winter Catskills, Fire Towers, and my own list of course (Views and Brews - URL below for those interested). I will certainly not stop hiking.

Thinking end of October for #46 (have 33 but already planned out the next 3 months, with weather dates, to complete by year's end). #46 is a toss up between Allen and Big Slide.

Once complete, I want to climb the entire Great Range again, in the winter as a single trip ;). (TRIP, not in a day :p )

Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get 'em all climbed. (29 so far). I keep repeating (and repeating) mountains I've allready climbed for all sorts of reasons like: doing a slide, going with someone new, my 46-er partner's not with me, I feel like it, my wife is with me (I don't think I'll ever get her on a herd trail) and so on.

When we finally get around to #46 it'll be Rocky Ridge Peak. As for winter 46ing we're up to a whopping 2.

We finished on July 17th on Allen. (DeadFred is on the left, I'm on the right, Garen is in the middle)

I'm counting the days until ice climbing season - I seldom hike once the ice gets fat! I doubt I'll do the winter 46 for that reason. I'd much rather climb Roaring Brook Falls than a peak in winter. Much more adrenaline!

Next goal is Ranier. You game Fred?????

We won't be able to bring Dakota, though.

After finishing the 46 I started in on other lists. Did Catskill 35 and Firetower list. Hope to finish the winter 46 this winter on Haystack. Hope to finish NH 48 next year on one of the Bonds. (17 left) Also chipping away at winter catskills, ADK 100, and 115. Have looked at NEHH as well. I also am working on the 46 in all 4 seasons and on helping others do theirs. Like trying new routes. Also chipping away at state highpoints (11 of 50) or at least the hiking ones.

My two major lists I'm pecking away at are. The ADK 100, and the NE111. I've kind of stayed from checking mountains off on my high peak map, would like to get into that again soon. I'm kind of interested in the W46 but if I get there I get there. There are so many other peaks I want to visit. Don't even get me started on the State Highpoints.

46 by Mid October

My son and I plan on finishing our 46 by mid October if all goes well. We started last September and hiked quite a few during the winter months. After this we plan on hiking the Long Trail in Vermont for our next goal. I completed about 200 miles of the Long Trail when I was about 14 years old and it has been one of my life goals. Hike On

My son and I just got back from a peakbagging frenzy(for us) and climbed 4 peaks in 2 days. We did Seymour/Seward on Monday and Whiteface/Esther on Tuesday leaving me at 4 to go. No real easy ones. Grey, Allen, Haystack and Blake. I'll probably finish this fall. Alot of mine were done in winter so I might work on the rest of those. I would really like to do a lot of ski approaches with snowshoe/crampon climbs. I have 11 Catskill peaks so that looks good, especially in winter. I have 2 firetowers and recently climbed Kane with my wife so maybe I'll work on that. The lists keep me traveling to lots of interesting places.
