The state had tried to get a private concession to build a campground at the park but despite some initial interest there werent any proposals.

Looks like the state will be doing it

For those adverse to ATV's this might not be somewhere you want to stay but its an option. The big plus is it will get some 24 hours usage and occasional management at the lake which shoudl cut down on vandalism and in general clean up the place.

It already has cleaned up considerably and I agree with peakbagger that this will certainly help put the final end to the reputation of the city outskirts party-spot.

It really is a breathtakingly beautiful spot with striking views and a wild lake, that was once a vast swamp until Jericho Brook was straightened into it by blasting ledge. I really look forward to taking the paddle in Jericho Lake that I have yet to accomplish, but admit that the one drawback of hearing the frequent background buzz gives me pause. Ironically at least out on the lake only electric motors are allowed.

It also is not too far from York Pond Road trailheads and other major trailheads in the area, and as my fellow north country guys know, a great view of the Pliny/Pilot Range at sunrise and the Mahoosuc Range at sunset, while paddling on Jericho Lake...Lefty E
