This summer is just incredible.....Looking at radar for the last 2 months, there has been at least a rainshower somewhere in the White Mountains every single day, except maybe 1 or 2. -Mattl

That's been my perception of what things have been like up here in Bethlehem this summer. Thank you for confirming it. Now I don't feel guilty about spending more time down state this summer.

Btw, driving home last night coming up through the lakes region around Meredith and Ashland was horrific. Visibility on 93N was almost zero due to the force of the downpours and hydroplaning was definitely a frequent hazard. A lot of cars pulled over and stopped to wait it out. The flooding that area suffered was intense. My heart goes out to the family that lost their 7 year-old in last night's flooding. I can't think of a worse tragedy for a parent to experience.

Absolutely. I was out there too. I drive that route often, and I almost never see the traffic slow to 35 mph or pull over even in blizzards. It was a shock to read about the tragic event in Ashland.

There is a "Questions about sites/data?" field at the bottom. If you are really curious, send them a query.

I did, and this is the reply:

USGS NH-VT Water Science Center said:
The triangles represent the median of all of the finalized (published) mean daily values for any given day for the period of record. For example today would be the median (59 cfs from the table right below the graph) of all mean daily values over the 68 year period of record (10-01-38 - 9-30-07) . You can access a table of that data at:http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nh/nwis/d...=file&submitted_form=parameter_selection_list

So, it is the median of the daily mean values.

OK.
However, that is inconsistent with the caption on the web page (68 vs 15 years):

[triangle] Median daily statistic (15 years)
Whatever...

FYI - I sent him the link for USGS 01137500 AMMONOOSUC RIVER AT BETHLEHEM JUNCTION, NH, which does say 68 years, not the Pemi, East Branch link, which says 15.

OK.

The different gage sites could have different record lengths.
