Was warm and so the snow was melting fast. By the time I came out the lower part of the trail and road were bare. Barebooted in. Deep snow at Elk pass alternating with running water. Snowshoes up Nippletop----needed the traction and much of the way the snow was knee deep (lower sections probably melted). Gorgeous views. Kept snowshoes on along the ridge and beyond Dial. By then the snow was like whipped cream. Miserable from Bear Den on (and amazing winds on the shoulder of Noonmark)--slush, deep snow, running water. Slippery slushy descent. 9 hours!
